Art Galleries

I have always had a keen interest in visiting art galleries. I’ve had the opportunity to visit many different ones, some with extremely high-priced art and artists with strong attitudes, and others with more affordable pieces and welcoming artists.

The Audacity of Our World

The boldness of our world has always astonished me. It’s a world where artists like Van Gogh passed away in poverty and despair, dreaming of recognition from their peers, only to receive such acclaim posthumously. Decades later, galleries have opened to showcase his work alongside that of artists like Monet, Millet, and Gauguin, honouring them as timeless masterpieces. I have never been able to comprehend this unpredictability, and I doubt I ever will!

Once, I bought beautiful watercolour paintings in Esfahan. I negotiated with the shopkeeper, who happened to be the son of the painter, to lower the price. His response not only silenced me at the time but also left a lasting impression: “Shouldn’t a unique, well-crafted painting be valued at least as much as a piece of jewellery? After all, they are both works of art.”

I don’t buy art for investment purposes; I buy it to appreciate and enjoy. Beautiful and unique artworks should be accessible to everyone, not just in galleries, but also in people’s homes and artists must be supported and promoted during their lifetime, so they can enjoy their artistic journey. Don’t forget to visit your local art gallery, appreciate beautiful art, and consider purchasing some artwork to inspire more artists and make our world more beautiful!
