I am starting to believe that the word “Hi” is of great value to most people in Australia. They hardly use it as if this precious word may lose its value if they use it too often!
I read somewhere that people are scared of rejection more than they are of death. Maybe this fear of rejection is why they choose to reject first by ignoring someone’s presence!
They cause even normal people interested in healthy and mature communication to become inconsistent in their behaviour by not being sure when, where and to whom to say their greetings.
But whatever the reasons are, they are unacceptable. Say hello to even birds on a tree. As an old Iranian/Persian proverb says “Saying hi brings healthiness to whoever says it”.
